Manitoba Stewardship
Manitoba Household Hazardous Waste Stewardship
In consultation with Manitoba Conservation, Green Manitoba, RCC and CCSPA, it was determined that the Manitoba Household Hazardous Waste (MB HHW) program will start on May 1, 2012 with paint and fluorescent lamps only, followed by the other product categories later in the year.
Products included in the Manitoba HHW program are the same products accepted in the BC program such as fluorescent lights, paint, flammable liquids, pesticides, and waste gasoline. Some additional categories of household hazardous waste such as "corrosives" will be accepted by the program also. A complete list of program products will be published when the program begins. For information on how to dispose of other HHW products, visit Green Manitoba, or contact your municipality.
As in other stewardship programs, Product Care's HHW program will be funded by stewardship-fees that apply to the sale of the new products. The fees for the two product categories, fluorescent lamps and paint, will start as of May 1, 2012; fee rates can be found here.
