British Columbia HHW Environmental Handling Fees
This program is funded entirely by Environmental Handling Fees (EHFs) remitted by Product Care’s industry members. EHFs are paid by Product Care’s members based on their unit sales in the provinces where Product Care has programs.
EHFs are taxable, as they are considered to be a part of the price of regulated products. While the taxes are remitted to the government, no part of the fee itself is remitted to the government.

1 The windshield washer fluid (WWF) product subcategories have been added as of April 1, 2026. The EHFs for WWF in BC are set to $0 until further notice. However, members are still required to report the supply of WWF that meets the flammability criteria.
