At Product Care Recycling, our operations team keeps recycling programs running across Canada. They’re the ones making sure products like paint, lights, alarms, and household hazardous waste are responsibly managed, every day. This International Women’s Day, we want to recognize the women behind that work.
“Working in recycling with Product Care is so rewarding because it feels like you’re improving our world alongside your friends. It’s encouraging to know that all the effort we put in to running our operations is directly contributing to a more sustainable .”
– Alyssa Rose, Operations Coordinator
“What I enjoy most about working in operations and recycling is seeing the direct environmental impact of our work while building strong, collaborative teams that make it all happen.”
– Lisa Armstrong, Operations and Logistics Supervisor
Whether it’s coordinating collection events, managing depot partnerships, or keeping compliance on track across provinces, the women on our operations team do the work that makes our programs possible.
Women who led the way
These women aren’t the first to roll up their sleeves for the environment, and they won’t be the last. Isatou Ceesay, known as the “Queen of Recycling,” started turning plastic bags into income for women in The Gambia in 1997. Vandana Shiva, an Indian physicist turned environmental activist, founded Navdanya in 1991 to protect India’s seed diversity and has helped communities establish 150+ seed banks across the country. Wangari Maathai founded Kenya’s Green Belt Movement in 1977, planting millions of trees and becoming the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. And Rachel Carson, a marine biologist, wrote Silent Spring in 1962 and helped spark modern environmental movement.
Here’s to every woman making a difference
This International Women’s Day, we celebrate every woman working toward a more sustainable world, whether you’re running recycling programs, managing collection sites, advocating for better environmental policy, or finding new ways to keep waste out of landfills. Your work matters.
From all of us at Product Care Recycling: Happy International Women’s Day!
