About AB Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) program
Coming Soon: Product Care’s Alberta hazardous and special products (HSP) program will launch in April 2025.
Product Care Recycling is an Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) registered producer responsibility organization (PRO) for Alberta’s upcoming HSP program. We look forward to collaborating with various stakeholders such as producers, communities and service partners across Alberta in the transition to extended producer responsibility (EPR) program for HSP. Below, you will find more information about the upcoming program.
The deadline to register with ARMA and Product Care is March 1, 2024.
HSP Products accepted under Product Care’s Program include:

All HSP products must display the hazard symbols, as described in the Consumer Chemical and Containers Regulation (SOR/2001-269), for the corresponding product category hazard class.
Products must be in its original container with the original label. The label must have one or more hazard symbols on it.

Note: Paint is not included in the HSP regulations and remains under the ARMA paint program.
