June 5, 2025
On January 25, 2024, the Government of Yukon enacted the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulation, requiring all producers of designated products to implement an approved stewardship program to continue selling, importing, or distributing those products in the territory.
At the request of our membership, Product Care is preparing to submit a Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) Stewardship Plan on behalf of stewards who have designated Product Care as their third-party producer responsibility organization, as permitted under Section 8 of the Regulation.
Program overview
The proposed Yukon HSP Program will include the following designated product categories, as outlined in Schedule 1 of the Regulation:
- Flammable products
- Toxic products
- Corrosive products
- Domestic pesticides
- Paint products
- Animal deterrents
- Lighting products
- Alarms
Note: Alarms are proposed for inclusion as of January 1, 2027.
