With the launch of the Alberta Household and Special Products (HSP) Program, effective April 1, 2025, consumers may have questions about the Environmental Handling Fees (EHFs) being charged on obligated products.
To support members and to assist staff at the store level in responding to these inquiries, Product Care has developed a FAQ information page on productcare.org, responding to common consumer questions. A consumer-facing flyer with a QR code to direct back to this page is also available for retailers to download, print and have available in-store.
EHFs support a province-wide system that ensures HSP products are safely collected and responsibly managed at the end of their life. We have designed these resources to assist your team in addressing customer inquiries, while communicating the purpose and environmental value of the program. We encourage members to share these resources with your store teams.
