It’s that time of year again! With the sun shining and temperatures rising, there’s no better time to start planning your home renovations for the summer. With hundreds of paint colours available—and millions of pins on Pinterest for inspiration–it can be hard to keep up with the newest colour trends.

That’s where we come in! This year, interior decorators are going back to basics with calming, nature-inspired paint colours for their spaces. From warm colours inspired by terracotta and seafoam to cool tones inspired by the night sky, there’s something out there for everyone.

Read on for our top 4 paint colour trends for 2020, and remember to recycle your leftover paint after you’re done!

classic blue paint colour trends 2020

1. Classic blue

Chosen as Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2020, this rich shade of blue is inspired by stormy ocean waves and the night sky at dusk. It’s a great choice for spaces where you relax and unwind, like the living room or dining room.

Remember: darker paint colours can make a room feel smaller. We suggest choosing a space that’s large and brightly lit with natural sunlight. For more tips on picking the right paint colours for your home, check out our choosing paint colours post.

muted teal paint colour trends 2020

2. Muted teal

Of course, this trending teal shade is one that we adore at Product Care – our brand colour is teal! Muted teals like the shade shown above are both versatile and pleasing to the eye. Inspired by a gentle tropical sea, this colour pairs particularly well with boho-inspired décor made from wicker and cotton.

This teal also compliments other white walls in a room, or white trim—if you’re reluctant to paint a full room teal, try it out on an accent wall.

warm grey paint colour trends 2020

3. Warm grey

If you’re less keen on colour—or if you haven’t branched out from eggshell white walls before—a soft shade of grey is a great way to embark on that journey. We’d recommend selecting a grey with a hint of red in it to add dimension and warmth to your space.

To keep things feeling light and airy, we’d pick this colour for rooms that already have white or light wood (like pine) décor and lots of natural light.

clay terracotta paint colour trends 2020

4. Clay and terracotta

Muted clay is a bold choice that will give your space a rustic feel. There are several options in this range of hues, from true orange terracotta to pinky, earthy clay shades as shown above.

This colour palette is a great choice for the kitchen or dining room. It complements metallic accents and appliances that are gold or silver.

Remember: once your interior decorating masterpieces are complete, be sure to recycle your leftover paint at a recycling location near you. If you’re curious about how we recycle leftover paint, check out our How is your leftover paint recycled? post for more details.

Our PaintShare program provides free, leftover paint on an as-available basis for smaller projects like accent walls. Colour selection varies. Use our Recycling locator to find a PaintShare location near you. Be sure to call locations in advance to see if they have paint available.

Without further ado: happy painting!
