Gas Container Policy

This is Product Care's gas container policy which is subject to change at any time:

Any gasoline must be received at the depot in a container that complies with safety requirements for transportation of gasoline. Depot operators are not allow to transfer gasoline out of a container therefore the container cannot be returned. This is for safety reasons.

Upon request, Product Care will reimburse the consumer on account of the cost of a replacement container as follows:

  • The reimbursement is $6 per qualifying container (regardless of size or actual replacement cost).
  • PCA may make the reimbursement by cash, cheque or store coupon, in its discretion.
  • This reimbursement policy does not apply to already empty gas containers.
  • The reimbursement is limited to no more than 3 containers per year per person.The reimbursement is only payable where a homeowner/consumer intends to purchase a replacement container. It is not payable to anyone other than the homeowner/consumer, for example it is not payable to disposal companies.
  • The reimbursement may only be claimed at the time of dropping off the old container.

PCA may require information including name, address and telephone number, which is used only for the purpose of validating the claim and if applicable, making payment by cheque, and will not be used for any other purpose.
