California Paint Stewardship
On September 28, 2010, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law AB 1343, making California the second state in the US to enact the Paint Product Stewardship legislation. The legislation was supported by the American Coatings Association (ACA), California Product Stewardship Council and many others.
PaintCare, which operates the Oregon pilot program, will draft and submit a paint stewardship plan to the state for approval. The legislation requires the plan to be submitted by April 1, 2012 and then the program must launch of the latter July 1, 2012 or three months after program plan approval.
